The County Tower
Brutalism at its best. No building in Aylesbury invokes such strong feelings. Love it or hate it we would always hope that it was a building that would be with us for ever. An icon of the swinging sixties and the 'white heat of technology'. The decision by Buckinghamshire Council not to include it in the Aylesbury Central conservation area and it not being listed sends out warning signals to us conservationists. We would hope that the building stays and is put to some good use. Sources: Photos and text by Roger King
